FIRST ANNIVERSARY MEMORIAL
FOR JAPAN’S EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI VICTIMS
March 11th will mark the first anniversary of the massive tsunami and earthquake which claimed more than 20,000 lives in Japan. The 9.0 magnitude quake devastated northeastern Japan and the tsunami which followed brought unimaginable havoc in its wake. Today, people in Tohoku strive for recovery as the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster continues to unfold.
Last year, HappyDoll organized a concert, STAND WITH JAPAN, which raised over $36,000 for the children affected by the disaster. This year, we join Fellowship For Japan, which brings more than 50 Japan Relief organizations together for a greater force and voice of support for Japan.
Over the past 12 months, many people from around the world have supported the country in various ways. On the eve of March 11th, New Yorkers will gather again to send our prayers to those who lost their families, friends, and hometowns. Together, side by side, we join our hands to let the people of Japan know that we have not forgotten, that we will continue to stand with them for the recovery of Japan.
